Gravity is a popular title for a song, ya? I am absolutely in love with these two. A staple on my playlist.

one fine (sun)day

{disclaimer: long photo post :)}

Before the crazy weather started and cool (read, not rainy) afternoons were still present, my friends and I went for a run/skate/tambay on a Sunday. We drove to UP Diliman and ran a few rounds of the acad oval since it's closed to traffic on Sundays. A nice chill day, capped off by an impromptu dinner!

portraits and such by the awesome stealth photographer Charlie Gomez who joined us that day :)

we ran into our good friend interior designer James Razo also! No actually, he literally ran into us! Hahaha Nina and I were semi-panicking when this guy was charging towards us.

After, we wanted to go to Sogbu for dinner, but unfortunately they were closed that day! Pffft. So we decided to take our chance and went to Van Gogh is Bipolar along Maginhawa St. They're usually by reservation only but we were lucky that they were able to accommodate us!

Pulag 2.0

my brother and I went up to Mt. Pulag in 2010 and we both have been wanting to go back! It's really a check on the bucket list type of thing and we wanted our dad - the promotor of the dela paz advenchas - to experience it too.

Finally, we were able to go again last May 26-28. :)

We took Tito Dwaki's pick-up from Manila to Baguio then eventually to Mt. Pulag Ranger Station.

We started our climb the next day and made it to camp just in time before the light rain
and extreme cold came!

We bunkered in our tent and froze a bit but we were able to have a nice dinner of instant noodles, some tuna sandwich and my instant tinapa flavored sardines. not bad! The next day, we woke up at 3am to start the assault to the summit so we can watch the sunrise from the peak.

And wow, was it gorgeous.

my feet, on top of Luzon's highest peak :)

After about an hour and a half, we headed back down to our camp to have breakfast.

the boys heating water for our coffee. aaaah...sarap!

We then headed to Baguio to get some ube jam before the long but nice drive back to Manila.

Till next time Mt. Pulag!! :)

Recently, more and more climbers are going up the mountain and when we were briefed at the DENR office, the park rangers said that we were lucky we went up on a weekday but if we were climbing on a weekend, it is best to make a reservation before heading up to Pulag since the mountain cannot handle so many people. The summit can accommodate about 100people, but they get almost 300 climbers on a weekend!

two - toned

I've been wanting to try the ombre hair trend for quite some time now. I asked around where I could get one and found out that Azta Urban Salon does great ombre jobs.

So about a month ago, when I got an invitation from blogger Alessandra Lanot to join her for a day at the salon, of course I said yes! {see her ombre hair review here}

First step (and longest!) is to bleach the hair that you want to be light. Mine took 4 hours to bleach! Then the color (in my case ash blonde) will be applied and allowed to set.
stylist Jo doing his thing :)

I know, I know, this is quite a 'safe' ombre. Next time maybe I'll go for a lighter blonde at the tips or even a bright funky color. We'll see.

For now, I'll enjoy my ashy! Thanks Azta! :)

i dig my toes onto the sand

My family and I went back to Calaguas in the middle of May. This was our third time on this little piece of paradise and I was happy to see that it has not degraded that much. I say that much since from the time when we first came back in 2009 and the year after that, till now, a lot of people already know about the place. And I mean a lot.

Good thing that we timed the start of our trip on a Sunday and we were to be on the island during weekdays. When we arrived, there were about a hundred people or more on the beach! Ouch! My bro Enzo and I were a bit disappointed since we were looking forward to having the beach to ourselves. But our bangkero assured us that everyone would be heading back to the mainland since it's a Sunday and we'd still have the beach to ourselves. yey!

4 days spent on a deserted island, with your family, and nothing to think about other than enjoying the beauty of nature.  #emo

The Calaguas tour package includes the boat ride from daet to the island, rent of tents, and 3 meals a day! They'll cook for you and clean up so you don't really have to worry about anything!

Paolo found a friend on the island. Beach puppy!

Sogbu

My good friend (and director of photography / cinematographer thankyouverymuch) Dibs Trofeo told me about his new high end karinderya called Sogbu. I've been quite busy with work and family outings the past few weeks so it was only last week he was able to drag me to the place.

It's on a quiet little corner along Bonny Serando Ave. in Quezon City. The design is so raw yet polished. Good job Dibs! :) And the food?? YUM! I can't wait to go back with some more friends!

Here's their first draft menu and it's good!!!

I got to try the Aligue pasta and crispy kare kare! So delicious! :)

Can't wait to try all the dishes here! :)

thanks for lunch dibs!!
