business vs. pleasure

Here with our friend architect Julia Uy-Cea of UO2 Architects. I look kinda contrasting to how polished she looks. hahahaha

sunny skies, sunkissed dreams, and travel to the new and undiscovered...

My family has always been (and always will be!) hungry for adventure. The lure of exploring the unexplored --seeing the beauty of little known places-- has led us on countless long, crazy, fun road trips.

Tammy, Kat and I at the Philippines' northern tip - Sta. Ana (2008)
There is just something about going somewhere... different. And by different I don't mean somewhere weird or what. A place you've never been before, or somewhere other than where everybody else goes. Or do something you don't normally do. Oftentimes, the most beautiful and interesting places are the ones least known and least obvious.

Thanks dad for passing this attitude down to us. :)

2005 - Baguio, Sagada

2008 - Tuguegarao - Callao Caves

2009 and 2010 - Calaguas, Camarines Norte

We discovered Calaguas through my dad's friend Pam Pujalte who was (not sure if she still is) the head of the tourism department of Daet, Camarines Norte. Glad we were able to experience the island before it became popular!

2010 - Mt. Pulag, Benguet
4 hour trek, setting up camp at dusk while temperatures dropped to almost zero, bunkered in the tent while the mountain climate gave us rain at freezing temperatures. But waking up the next day and seeing this view? Totally worth it.

walk like an egyptian

Egyptians’ black lined eyes were not for vanity.
Apparently, the black eyeliner worn by ancient egyptians had a purpose. it was to reduce the glare from the desert sun and from the reflection of the gleaming white limestone pyramids. cool. #heyilearnedsomethingnewtoday

lion fight

"Chin up. Shoulders back. Walk proud. Strut a little. Don’t lick your wounds, celebrate them. The scars you bear are the signs of a competitor. You’re in a lion fight. Just because you didn’t win, doesn’t mean you don’t know how to roar."

coast thru life

Don’t live life on fast forward. Enjoy each scene. Replay the good parts. Get to know the cast well, the main character, the supporting actors, and even the extras. Take time to read the credits and see the list of people who made the movie a masterpiece. Who knows, an added feature at the end might be in store.
Sit back and relax.

the long and short of it

Last december, I chopped all of my hair off. Some people liked it. Most people didn’t. The comment I heard most was “Sayang! Ang ganda ng buhok mo!”

But to me, it’s just hair. It’ll grow back. I wanted to prove to myself that I wasn’t defined by my long curly locks (although I did love my long curly locks…)
And it’s kind of frustrating too that we (or I) still live in a society where most people have this stereotypical view of beauty. “girls are only beautiful w/ long hair.” “guys should not have long hair.” “tattoos are for ex-cons…” (ok that’s another story.)
I’m not really sure why I cut my hair. Maybe i wanted a change…maybe it was Emma Watson (haha!)…but maybe I wanted to prove to myself that I am not afraid of change and that I am not someone who plays by stereotypical rules.

My hair is growing back now. But I don’t regret getting it pixied. Call me brave, but hey, it’s just hair. :)
