Dîner en Blanc

Every year, on the streets of Paris and under the stars, a fancy dinner takes place -- The Dîner en Blanc. Parisians, dressed in ALL WHITE gather to catch up with friends, enjoy the food, music and views. But this is no ordinary 'white themed' dinner... It's sort of a flash mob of dinners...a pop up picnic.

Wait, what?

It all started in 1988 when Francois Pasquire held an outdoor dinner to reconnect with friends upon arriving from his travels abroad. So many wanted to come that he asked them to wear white so they could find each other when they met up at Bois de Boulogne. And it grew from there.

Nowadays, planning and preparation for the diner en blanc is so secretive that it appears to just pop up out of nowhere. Guests are invited strictly through social networks and friends.

Each group of guests are required to bring their own tables, chairs, table settings and food. And everything must be white - the table cloth, napkins, plates, candles, etc ... and of course, everything you wear.

At 9 pm, people start to gather at the secret locations and then the party starts. Great food, music, conversations and awesome views. And in true flash mob form, at midnight, everyone starts packing up, cleaning up and then disappear into the streets of Paris.

Isn't it magical???!

The Diner en Blanc also pops-up in Montreal and New York now. Can it pop up in Manila next? Count me in if it does!

a grand exit

I absolutely love it when a garment has an interesting back! For me, it is much more appealing to have nice details at the back than at the front. Kind of gives it an unexpected surprise.
(unexpected surprise. yes redundant. a pleonasm. - trivia! pleonasm - [plee-uh-naz-uhm] noun. the use of more words than necessary to express an idea; redundancy. hahaha i learned this from my friend jing!)
